Do you ever look at a professional’s name and wonder what all the letters mean after it? I have quite a few letters after my name and I thought it would be helpful to explain what the letters all mean.
When I sign my name, it is Jacquelyn Hines, PT, DPT, MPT, C/NDT, CST.
Here is the breakdown.
PT – Physical Therapist
This is my profession and I am a licensed Physical Therapist in New Jersey.
DPT – Doctor of Physical Therapy
My highest educational degree is my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I earned this degree at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey (now called Stockton University) after my Master’s degree.
MPT – Master of Physical Therapy
I have my Master’s degree in Physical Therapy also from Stockton. I continued onto the MPT program after I graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
C/NDT – Certified in Neuro-Developmental Treatment
As per the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association: NDT is a holistic and interdisciplinary clinical practice model informed by current and evolving research that emphasizes individualized therapeutic handling based on movement analysis for habilitation and rehabilitation of individuals with neurological pathophysiology.
In my words, it is a handling treatment technique that helps facilitate movement patterns and postures to focus on achieving a patient’s highest level of function.
CST – Certified in CranioSacral Therapy
I am a CranioSacral Therapist Certified by The Upledger Institute. I am 1 of 13 Certified CranioSacral Therapists in New Jersey, 1 of 623 Certified CranioSacral Therapists in the United States, and 1 of 1,250 Certified CranioSacral Therapists in the world.
